1461F
The Dr. Martens 1461 is redesigned for the future with the brand’s versatility and iconic visual language in mind. Simplicity is achieved through the absolute reduction of details to create a brutalist and pure silhouette while respecting the brand's identity. The 1461F is also speculatively designed in collaboration with Comme des Garcons - known for their avante-garde and brutalist philosophies, as well as in homage to the two companies’ relationship.
It features a singular injection molded PVC sole, an undisturbed piece of leather with a single back seam - hidden with an adhered strip of leather, a sock-like knit which also acts as the inside lining with an integrated pull tug, making the experience of wearing it unique and simple to the usual 1461.
In this project, every aspect of the user experience is considered and designed. The packaging system includes a sliding drawer cardboard box, a deep formed aluminum container with leather handles, as well as an additional leather travel shoe bag. This system is designed around crafting a set of heirloom objects, and the idea of extended functionality, where the user for example can use the aluminum container as a keepsake box and etc.
Designed and created with Foundry’s program Modo.
